'John Tognolini has been a rare voice and witness for justice in Australia, chronicling the struggles of Indigenous Australians and veterans and the deceptions of power from behind the facades of a society that prefers not to know. I salute him.' John Pilger

Porter in Shakespeare's Macbeth-John Tognolini

I was sixteen when I saw Macbeth with Roman Polanski's 1971 film Macbeth in a cinema in Footscray, in Melbourne, on an excursion with Brunswick High School in 1975. I was in Form Five today's Year Eleven. It was the first time I was exposed to Shakespeare. Reading Mad about Shakespeare: From Classroom to Theatre to Emergency Room by Jonathan Bate. I found out that Bate was only 16 when he saw it in England. I've always remembered the Porter from 1975.
