John Tognolini. Interesting week with the Budget a few days a way the Government are drip feeding some announcements. This included the drop that the Government were likely to raise the jobseeker rate for the over 55's. No doubt this was designed to test the temperature in the room - could they get away with not raising the rate for all this time around? It's going to be hard for Labor and even their most rusted on supporters to justify not raising the rate for all, given their long history criticising the previous government for not raising the rate, and their election campaign focused on leaving no one behind.
