Iranian-American DESTROYS the Pro-War Lies About Iran by Owen Jones

Click on Owen Jones: Now, as the Iran war descends ever further into catastrophe, many of the voices we've heard from the diaspora, particularly Iranian Americans have been presented as being, I guess, very pro-war, um, as being kind of waving Israeli flag, supporting Donald Trump.

That's the kind of image that has been pushed by a lot of media outlets, I would say, a lot of politicians as well. Is it accurate though? A diaspora is should never be regarded of any nationality as as homogeneous. Obviously every nation has a diversity of different views but that reality is not being shown. With that in mind I'm really…. excited to do this um interview since this latest horror show I have to say began. So I'm joined by the brilliant Muhammad Ali Majeradi or Sharghzadeh…… the brilliant Persian poet and what he's been doing is you know talking spreading the kind of the heritage the the great heritage of Iran to large numbers of people and that's what you've been focusing on doing and but now obviously your homeland is in the midst of a of a terrible war. I just want to start if if it's okay just on a human level. Just tell me since this war began? What's been going through your head? How what are you feeling?

Sharghzadeh: It's just constant dread and terror, poor sleep, you know, waking up with teeth pain because I've grind my teeth through the nights or just worrying about families, scrolling through social media endlessly when I really shouldn't, but I just can't help but keep looking at things and looking with just fear for places that have been bombed that I recognize. looking at just all kinds of terrible scenes. It's just the wor it's the absolute worst experience one could have and it's something that I dreaded for a long time. I remember when I lived in Iran, I was in the subway tunnels occasion be in the subway and I remember that the British would use the tube tunnels during the bombings and I wondered, you know, will there ever be a day, god forbid, where these subway tunnels or shelters and I would go and look in the streets of Tehran and think, will there ever be a day when bombs fall here? And I thought, you know, probably not. God, I don't I think those we're in a you know, an era of diplomacy and it really pains me to see images of truly those subway tunnels filled with families, you know, all the way to the end, sleeping at night because of bombs…..
