Israel is Weaponising Australia's Tragedy by Friendly Jordies

In a time that should be for reflection and support Israel immediately took action to weaponise a tragedy.

You won't believe what was said at this Tel Aviv Weapons conference by Michael West

Exclusive footage from inside an Israeli global defence tech conference reveals how war is being openly sold as a growth industry. Weapons executives and financiers discuss Gaza as a testing ground, the normalisation of mass killing, and the profits flowing from conflict, including Australian government links. This investigation follows the money behind the arms trade, from Gaza to Iran to the next great power war, and asks who really benefits while civilians pay the price. #China #auspol

EXCLUSIVE: Australian Jewish Journalist Exposes Israel's Weaponization of the Bondi Terr*ri$t Attack: Robert Inlakesh with Yaakov Aharon

In the aftermath of the Bondi Beach terr*ri$t attack targeting a Hanukkah gathering, public mourning was rapidly overtaken by political narratives that conflated antisemitism with criticism of Israel and fueled Islamophobic fear-mongering. In this interview with Palestine Chronicle' Robert Inlakesh, anti-Zionist Jewish journalist Yaakov Aharon reflects on the impact of the attack within Sydney’s Jewish community, the role of the Israeli government and its allies in shaping the public narrative, and the dangers of weaponizing antisemitism to silence pro-Palestinian voices. The discussion also highlights the heroic actions of Ahmed al-Ahmed, a Syrian Muslim father who intervened during the terr*ri$t attack and helped prevent further loss of life—challenging prevailing stereotypes and exposing the distortions that followed. 📚 Find Robert Inlakesh's feature about the interview here: https://www.palestinechronicle.com/an...

The Antony Loewenstein Podcast: My Comments on the Bondi Attack by Antony Lowenstein

Recorded less than 24 hours after the horrific massacre in Bondi, Sydney, this episode is a raw, urgent response to violence, fear, and the political weaponisation that has already followed. Speaking as a Jewish Australian, I reflect on grief, anger, and the dangers of conflating antisemitism with criticism of Israel. I unpack how pro-Palestine movements are being blamed without evidence, why knee-jerk calls for expanded police powers and immigration crackdowns should alarm us all, and how fear is being exploited to silence dissent.

Politicising a Terror Attack | Scam of the Week by Michael West

IDF security guards to roam the streets of Sydney? Criticism of Israel to be outlawed? Protests banned, media and universities monitored, the threat of defunding for antisemitism? This episode examines how the Bondi Beach attacks were rapidly politicised, before the facts were established and while families were still grieving. Instead of restraint, Australia witnessed an immediate rush to blame, agenda setting by foreign leaders, and a media cycle that prioritised outrage over evidence. We look at how the tragedy was leveraged to justify new crackdowns on protest, expanded surveillance, and policies that blur the line between combating antisemitism and restricting legitimate political speech. We examine the role of lobby groups, the adoption of the IHRA definition, and the implications for media freedom, public broadcasters, universities, and civil society.

How Israel Exploited the Bondi Beach Shooting to Attack Palestine by US Journalists Katie Halper joins Rania Khalek and Zoe Alexandra

In the immediate aftermath of the Bondi Beach mass shooting, Israeli officials rapidly moved to politicize the tragedy, with Netanyahu blaming it on Australia’s decision to recognize a Palestinian state earlier this year and Israeli foreign minister Gideon Sa'ar declaring it as a result of worldwide calls to “globalize the intifada.” Journalist Katie Halper joins Rania Khalek and Zoe Alexandra to dismantle these claims. She analyzes how the shooting has been weaponized to attack the pro-Palestine movement, arguing that equating anti-Zionism with anti-Semitism is not only inaccurate, but makes Jews less safe.

How the Bondi terror attack was reported by Antoinette Lattouf & Jan Fran

In this episode, Jan and Antoinette focus on the first 24-hours of media coverage of the antisemitic terrorist attack in Bondi that left 15 people dead. They examine how the story unfolded, which voices were given prominence, the role of social media in circulating original and often horrifying footage, and how easily misinformation spreads as well as how certain narratives take hold. It is a careful, unsparing look at how news is constructed and at politicised under pressure, and what is lost when speed overtakes care. The Bondi massacre and the right-wing backlash

Episode 13 - The Bondi massacre and the right-wing backlash The massacre in Bondi struck the heart of decent people across Australia. It was shocking to see the murder of 15 Jewish people by suspected gunmen with links to ISIS. This special episode was recorded in the first days after the event, and tries to unpack the first responses by the media, the ALP, LNP, Pauline Hanson and Bob Katter. In general, the horror of the attack has been amplified by the racist and anti-Palestinian response, which seeks to manipulate the tragedy for political ends. Benjamin Netanyahu’s absurd claim that Australia’s recognition of Palestinian statehood is somehow to blame was typical of this reactionary tidal wave. Also significant has been NSW Premier Chris Minn’s decision to rush through even more anti-protest laws under the guise of solidarity with the Jewish community.

The Government is using a tragedy to crack down on free speech | The West Report by Michael West

In the aftermath of the Bondi massacre, Australian governments are moving fast. Too fast, and in the wrong direction. Before investigations are complete, before facts have settled, political leaders and sections of the media are already using the tragedy to justify sweeping crackdowns on peaceful protest and political dissent. We examine threats against Jewish peace activists, the failure of police responses, the push to expand the IHRA definition of antisemitism, and the growing pressure on Albanese to adopt measures that could reshape public debate across universities, media, arts organisations and civil society. Gun laws saved lives in the wake of the Port Arthur massacre. Curtailing free speech will not.

How the Media is Weaponising the Bondi Terror Attack | The West Report by Joshua Barnett

In the aftermath of the Bondi attack, facts were still emerging while parts of the media rushed ahead with speculation, political framing and culture war narratives. In this episode of The West Report, we examine where journalism crossed the line into commentary, how misinformation spread in real time, and why duty of care matters most when lives are lost and communities are grieving.

The Party Line on Venezuela, US Imperialism and Stupol with

Big news this week: Anneke has been adopted! By her big sister that is. We discuss all that before moving on to headlines, including what the Annika Wells expense scandal reveals about the culture of entitlement that runs through Parliament. The main breaking story that was unfolding as we were recording was the US hijacking of a Venezuelan oil tanker, which follows months of deadly strikes on boats that have killed nearly 100 civilians. This leads on to a chat about Trump’s new National Security Strategy, which declares his intent to see the US engage in aggressive operations throughout Latin America to reassert US hegemony over the ‘western hemisphere’, while also promoting the great replacement theory and other fascist ideas and organisations throughout Europe. We wrap up with some goss from the National Union of Students National Conference in Ballarat, which saw Labor Party members try (and fail) to lock out socialist party members from national office. Huge thanks to our tireless editors Charlie Wardrop and Persephone Waxman. Content Australia’s senior politicians can claim ‘unlimited’ travel expenses for their spouse, watchdog rules say

‘Good Muslim, Bad Muslim’ by Mehdi Hasan and Prem Thakker

Mehdi and Prem unpack the Australia Terror Attack. The perpetrators behind the horrific, antisemitic shooting at Australia’s Bondi Beach turned out to be Muslim – but, in a twist, so was the heroic man who tackled one of the shooters from behind. Mehdi Hasan and Prem Thakker break down the violence, the political fallout, and more of the week’s biggest stories during Zeteo’s livestreamed, audience-led Q&A. “We shouldn't have to be heroes. Those of us who are Muslims living in the West shouldn't have to disarm a gunman in order for people to say, ‘Well, actually, Muslims, they're good people,’” says Mehdi. “Our citizenship, our presence should not be conditional. We should belong because we belong.” Watch the full video above to hear Prem and Mehdi also discuss: The shooting at Brown University, and the US’s failure to curb gun violence Benjamin Netanyahu’s blaming the beach massacre on Australia’s recognition of a Palestinian state Erika Kirk’s Bari Weiss-moderated CBS town hall: “This is MAGA's new media channel.” Donald Trump’s deranged reaction to Rob Reiner’s death War with Venezuela?

I subscribe to Zeteo founded by Mehdi Hasan, Zeteo is a powerful movement for accountability. It delivers serious journalism but with a decided bias towards democracy and human rights. Rigorous, fact-checked journalism in the service of the public good. If you can’t subscribe please share.

Israel Weaponises Bondi Beach Atrocity - ALL Violence Must Be Opposed by Owen Jones

'After the nauseiating, horrifying anti-semitic attack on Jewish Australians as they celebrated Hanukkah together, full of joy and happiness on Bondi Beach at Sydney in Australia. I didn't want to talk about Israel and its ongoing genocide against the Palestinianpeople. Unfortunately, Israel and its cheerleaders have decided otherwise. They have decided to turn this hideous attack into an opportunity to justify genocide against the Palestinian people and to shut down those who oppose that genocide and in fact to demonize anyone who in the mildest possible way supports national self-determination for the Palestinian people. Here's what I wanted to talk about. What I want to talk about is the very real evil of antisemitism which is a hatred which within living memory culminated in the the shower the Holocaust the industrialized extermination of the Jewish people in Europe killing 6 million two-thirds of Europe Jewish population in a very short period of time as well as obviously the antisemitism which has existed long before that and then long after that predating Israel and its foundation and the way it's rising.

Now, you know, I want to talk about the responsibility that we all have, not least, well, well, sorry, when I say not least, I say not least on the left because we have a consistent view about justice and equality, but a responsibility to ensure that those in the Jewish diaspora feel safe and secure, that they feel that they don't have to, you know, flee for their lives as their ancestors did when things suddenly turn against them in the country which is their hope. You know what I want to talk about is unity against hatred. How all of us whatever communities need to come together and stand against anti-semitism and those who wish to hurt and murder Jewish people.

I want to talk about the the horror on that iconic beach as Jewish Australians gathered for the start of Hanukkah eating donuts, celebrating, listening to music. That one of the victims was a little 10-year-old girl, another a survivor of the Holocaust. The horror of watching a day of joy end with people running for their lives as two gunmen indiscriminately fired into a crowd of Jewish Australians. I want to talk about how no cause on earth ever justifies murdering unarmed civilians. That whatever is going through the minds of these terrorists, the only cause underpinning what they did is hatred. And the only cause that they advance is hatred. I want to talk about Ahmed Al Ahmed, the Syrian born Muslim bystander who risked his life and was seriously injured as he wrestled one of the attackers and saved the lives of several others who could have been murdered with the gun that he rested from his grip.......'

Taking Advantage of A national Tragedy | The West Report by Michael west

Who to blame for the Bondi Beach mass-shooting? Not Muslims, not Arabs, not peace protestors marching on the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It was the men who fired the bullets. In the aftermath of the Bondi attack, grief has quickly collided with misinformation and political point scoring. This episode examines what we know, what we do not yet know, and how tragedy is being used to inflame division before investigations are complete. We focus on responsibility, facts, and the real consequences of turning loss into a culture war.

Politicians' Expenses, Trumps Gold Card & the Tim Tam government bailout...

Flying cans of worms in Canberra, again. This week on Scam of the Week, we look at the expenses pile on, why Anika Wells became the headline, and the part the outrage merchants never say out loud, everyone’s in the trough, Labor, Liberals, Greens, just with different media friends. Then we zoom out, because while Canberra’s arguing over ski trips, Trump is spruiking “gold cards”, and Australia’s debating censorship, surveillance, and who really benefits when the rules get written by the loudest lobbyists. And for dessert, a “Tim Tam bailout”, where the government ends up propping up the notorious KKR private equity firm, because apparently Wall Street punters get a safety net too. We also dig into the under 16s social media ban, gambling ads, and the quiet second round of the media bargaining code, the one where big legacy media lines up for another subsidy.

Honest Government Ad | Social Media Ban

Look out for your young people as the social media ban comes into effect on Dec 10. We've pulled the rug out from under them and some will need help. So please talk to your kids and keep a caring eye out for the young people in your life e know many Australians, especially parents, support this ban. Their concern for their children on social media are valid (as parents ourselves, we share those concerns) and something absolutely needs to be done. But our kids deserve better than this; they deserve leaders who'll fight for them against industries that profit from their harm - and not just Big Tech, also the gambling and fossil-fuel industries. So let's keep pushing for reforms that do that; and which protect not just our kids but all of us, our societies and democracy. We can do this. But right now, the main message we want to get out is: look out for the young people in your life as the ban comes into effect. Links to sources and further reading in the video description.

Are Renewables Really Driving Energy Prices? | The West Report by Michael West

'Why are your energy bills so bloody high? Is it renewables, as the Coalition and fossil media claim? No. In this episode of The West Report, Michael follows the money through the entire grid, from generators to gentailers, to show that the real culprits are soaring coal and gas prices and corporate profiteering, not renewables. We pull live data from the national electricity market to show how cheap rooftop solar and utility solar really are compared with coal and gas, and why renewables are already making up around half the grid while your bill still keeps climbing. Michael breaks down how privatisation created layer after layer of middlemen, why AGL, Origin and EnergyAustralia are raking it in, and how both major parties have let fossil fuel donors write the rules.'

The Party Line on Migration, the NDIS & the Liberals-

'Episode 11 - The Party Line on the NDIS, migration and the Liberals The team start this ep with a bold marketing ploy: attacking our listeners. We then discuss Jordy’s invitation to attend am allegedly anticapitalist forum hosted by SBS (turns out, it wasn’t). We then discuss the disgraceful comments made by Zack Polanski in relation to migrant workers in the UK, and what it reveals about the limits of liberal anti-racism, before launching into a critique of Labor’s NDIS program and their plan to use AI to further dehumanise and disenfranchise people with disabilities, as well as the workers who support them. The main segment features Chloe Rafferty from Red Flag Radio, our smarter, more sophisticated elder sibling, who led us in a discussion about the current crisis in the Liberal Party, why Sussan Ley is not the answer, why the Teals are no better, and how the growth of the far right will impact Australian politics into the future.

The Winker Strikes Back and the Murderer drags Australia towards war | The West Report by Michael West

The Party Line on Rising Tide and the Greens’ climate capitulation (ft Zack Schofield).

Who wants to be a millionaire is a somewhat surprising focus of our first segment, as Anneke and her friend fight for the right to participate in the toxic reality TV industry. We then interview Rising Tide community organiser Zack Schofield, who is one of the wonderful people that have just organised the People’s Blockade of Newcastle Coal Port. We discuss the history of the campaign, its demands and why it’s in workers interest to support the ending of the fossil fuel industry. We follow this up with a scathing look at Labor’s climate bill, in particular the Green’s decision to pass it barely amended, and what it says about the limits of the Greens’ parliamentary approach.
